Springboard Corner: October 2022

Welcome To The Springboard Corner

Welcome back to the Springboard Corner, where we highlight and share recent milestones of life science and hi-tech startups which we have worked with through Connect’s Springboard program.

With the autumnal equinox taking place this year on September 23rd, the calendar has officially declared it is fall in San Diego. Autumn generally symbolizes abundance and at the same time cooling temperatures. But … Springboard companies are not “cooling” down at all.

Check out what has been happening!

Beacon Mobile – founded in 2014, Beacon Mobile is a mobile technology company which has developed innovative digital solutions for the car wash market. Their branded native all-in-one platform allows easy integration into existing systems and improves customer experience while reducing costs for car wash owners. They were recently acquired by Ohio based DRB, a software and hardware provider in the car wash industry.

Events.com – founded in 2009, the company is a leader in developing all-inclusive event management platforms with multiple capabilities. They recently acquired Evensi, a San Francisco and Italy-based company which has developed an advanced platform using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for event organizers and participants to discover events globally.

Fuse Integration – previously showcased in the Springboard Corner, this communications solutions innovator for our nation’s warfighter makes the news again. This time the company has been named a Platinum Honoree in the 2022 Technology Innovators Awards by Military + Aerospace Electronics. Judged by a panel of industry experts, Platinum Honoree is the highest recognition awarded by this competitive program.

IntraRatio – founded in 2010, this technology company has developed enterprise software solutions to automate and streamline manufacturing operations in the semiconductor, electronics and MEMs industry sectors. IntraRatio is one of ten winners in this year’s High Tech Awards; they are the winner in the Outstanding Technology Company category. High Tech Awards is Octane’s annual awards program recognizing top innovators and entrepreneurs. Over 150 companies were nominated for this year’s annual competition.

NanoCellect Biomedical – a leader in cell analysis and sorting solutions using microfluidics, we highlighted them earlier this year as they had recently closed a $35M funding round. They have now successfully secured a $1.8M SBIR Ph-2 grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH-NIGMS). This funding will be used to further advance their technology and be able to sort by cell features determined via artificial intelligence (AI).

Planck Aerosystems – founded in 2014, the company is a leader in the development of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) designed specifically to operate from moving platforms in the defense sector. The company was recently acquired by AeroVironment, a Virginia-based defense contractor and a publicly-traded company, which focuses on intelligent UAS solutions.

Stay tuned for more abundance!
