Welcome back to the Springboard Corner, where we highlight and share recent milestones of life science and hi-tech startups which we have worked with through Connect’s Springboard program.

We are well into the last quarter of 2022 and here’s the latest from Connect’s Springboard companies!

Carlsmed – which has developed a patented medical device that is combined with a personalized surgical plan for patients needing spine surgery, closed a $30M financing round earlier this year. Now, the first patients are enrolling in the COMPaSS Study (Clinical Outcome Measures in Personalized aprevoR Spine Surgery). This multi-center study will collect data over a two-year period from patients who have undergone surgery with Carlsmed’s aprevoR device, monitor their progress over time, and thereby further advance personalized spine surgery.


Gryphon – founded in 2014, Gryphon has developed an all-in-one smart mesh WiFi router for the connected home which includes internet security and parental controls. This past month the company completed a successful crowdfunding campaign raising $0.22M in the process.


Innovega – founded in 2008, Innovega has developed the next generation of contact lenses. Their patented and smart eyewear technology allows the visually impaired to experience  ultra-high magnification of surrounding areas without needing bulky VR headsets or goggles. The company recently completed a successful crowdfunding campaign where they raised $0.58M.


Nano PharmaSolutions – founded in 2019, Nano PharmaSolutions has developed a delivery technology which generates drug nanoparticles that greatly enhance the bioavailability and uptake of insoluble drugs. The company announced it has entered into a collaboration with Mikart, LLC to produce materials for clinical trials in a GMP environment.


Shadowbox – founded in 2017, Shadowbox has developed a patented, cloud-based workflow automation platform for integration and management between healthcare providers and EHR (electronic health records) data systems. They just closed their $6.0M Series A round which will be used to further scale and drive market expansion.


Tag-N-Trac – a developer of smart IoT tracking software, we highlighted them earlier this year when they emerged from stealth mode and closed a $10M Series A round. Business Insider recently named them one of the 16 most promising cloud-software startups of 2022.
