It is the first calendar or day planning system designed for meals, exercise, sleep, and mindfulness.

Owaves is the best solution to optimizing one’s day because of its simplistic and seamless user interface combined with its revolutionary and one-of-a-kind social feature. Our upcoming #MyMoai launch allows friends and families to connect and support one another’s daily routines and goals. The idea of social support groups is scientifically proven to alleviate emotional distress and promotes longer, healthier, and happier lives. Owaves is experiencing 300% plus growth since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. When compared with other mental health apps, Owaves retention rates significantly outperform other apps (at a rate of 5-6X) according to a study published by the Journal of Medical Internet Research in 2019. With the launch of our social feature, we expect our growth loop and retention rates to significantly grow. Day planning AND a social feature? Check.

Owaves was born in Encinitas, California and is now partnered with The Scripps Research Translational Institute based in La Jolla. Our partnership with Scripps Research has allowed the Owaves team to help create and disseminate digital trials across the US in order to execute the NIH’s Precision Medicine Initiative to provide more personalized healthcare for all. Clearly, our Owaves team integrates top-tier talent from design, engineering and medicine communities (including Marty Cooper, the founder of the cell phone!) that is highly desirable to our partners in the community and across the US.
What else do you want us to know?
Right now, there is an unprecedented increased need for mental health support services among individuals aged 18-24. In fact, the CDC published US data that 1 in 4 people aged 18-24 seriously contemplated suicide in June of 2020 while 40% of the 5,400 surveyed people experienced at least one mental health symptom. In addition, COVID-19 has normalized technological platforms to provide mental health services, so our Owaves app is needed now more than ever.

What inspired you to start/run this company?
Owaves’ founder grew up in a family of physicians and witnessed the irony of the physician lifestyle, especially during his own medical intern year. Upon starting his MBA program the following year at the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego - he made a commitment to himself. “I want to be successful as an entrepreneur, but I’m not willing to sacrifice my health to get there.” That decision forces him to embody what he learned in medical school (the textbooks, not the culture!). Namely, lifestyle as medicine is the cure for much of the chronic disease we see today.
