Founded in 2017, Daasity is the first and only data analytics platform built exclusively for Direct-to-Consumer(D2C) brands by industry leaders in the D2C space. Daasity provides D2C brands with a business insights solution tailored to their specific needs. It has become easier than ever to start an online D2C with the proliferation of SaaS solutions to ease company operations. But each solution is data independent and D2C companies must hire expensive staff (IT, Analytics) as they grow and get mired in spreadsheets. After realizing there were many companies that offer a solution for only part of the process, Daasity built a platform that does it all. Why is your company the best option to solve the problem you're solving?
Daasity was founded by Dan LeBlanc, Sean Corson and Chris Shimojima who have over 40 years of experience in the eCommerce space having worked together at Provide-Commerce which was purchased by FTD in 2014. This experience gave the co-founders insight into the challenges that all brands faced regardless of their size. After being approached by a number of growing eCommerce brands needing help to become data-driven the trio officially started Daasity in 2017 and launched their first product, Daasity Pro in 2019, with the aid of their initial customers. This direct experience and customer-led product development make Daasity the best choice for brands looking for a D2C Analytics solution.
What nuggets of info make you interesting? Why do people care about what you're doing?
At Daasity, we believe in the power of data. We believe that access to quality information and business insights can mean the difference between surviving and thriving for a business. We believe that you data analytics solution should be affordable and that it should work as hard as you do. That is should be a perfect fit for your specific needs and that you shouldn't have to settle for a standard generic solution. Most importantly we believe that data should make your life easier. The current pandemic has accelerated the shift to online Direct-to-Consumer purchasing and smaller brands need both the tools and insights to make better decisions to ensure they remain viable businesses.

In the last year Daasity has processed over 5 Trillion points of data, run over 700 Million queries and connected to over 2,800 different data sources for our customers.

What one book, podcast, newsletter, etc. do you recommend to other entrepreneurs? Why?
How I Built This by Guy Raz. I love listening to start-up stories from brands we all love. It's not an easy road and it's a great reminder that they all faced ups and downs as well and persevered to make it!
What is your company's secret sauce?
The key to a good analytics solution is how you put the data together. Over the last two years Daasity has written algorithms to piece together all kinds of different data together - eCommerce, Marketplace (Amazon, etc.), Marketing, Logisitcs, Returns, etc. into a single data model that allows our customers to gather incredible business insights. This coupled with our industry experience is what makes Daasity special
What inspired you to start/run this company?
After helping some brands (MVMT Watches, Rothys, Kopari) build a data analytics solution by cobbling together different tools into a somewhat workable solution, it became clear that a better way was needed. Building a platform was the obvious solution as they all chose Shopify as their eCommerce platform as I could leverage our technology across all these brands.
What's the best entrepreneurial advice you've received?
Get to know Mike Krenn. He is an incredibly connected individual and has really helped us navigate this landscape of Venture Capital.
What's the worst entrepreneurial advice you've received?
Never turn down discussions with a Venture Capital firm. I was introduced to a VC who was interested in us but on our first call said they hated our name, our colors and our UI but liked the vertical. I should have stopped right then and there but followed the advice and spent hours with them until they finally declined. My advice, not every VC is a good fit. Recognize it early and move on.
