Meet Biocanic, Inc.

Why is your company the best option to solve the problem you're solving?
At Biocanic we are laser focused on user delight for both our practitioners and their patients. Integrative health programs are complex, inefficient and challenging to stay on track. Through our easy to use and understand engagement platform we put data front and center and engage patients to ensure they start on the right path and stay on track to achieve their desired health outcomes.
What nuggets of info make you interesting? Why do people care about what you're doing?
Integrative medicine (or holistic medicine) is a rapidly expanding market globally because people are no longer willing to accept the status quo in getting to the bottom of their health issues that matter the most. However, there are so many ways to quantify and measure health, but that data alone does not drive any value. Understanding what to do with the data, has yet to be solved. This is where Biocanic comes in. Our goal is to fundamentally transform the world in how people manage their health and wellness to achieve optimal vitality across their life span.
What else do you want us to know?
The founders of Biocanic, Andy and Jeremy, have known each other since the third grade (over 35 years!). Our partnership started out on a dusty t-ball field in Eugene, Oregon (Go ducks!)
BEHIND THE COMPANY
CEO/Founder: Jeremy Malecha

What one book, podcast, newsletter, etc. do you recommend to other entrepreneurs? Why?
"Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. It talks about his journey in building Nike and how he managed to make ends meet while building the business. One philosophy that sticks with me was regarding not taking a salary for as long as he could. He viewed every dollar he took out of the company as a dollar he could not invest in the growth of the company. So Phil did everything thing he could to ensure all capital was focused towards business growth even if that meant working two full time jobs for as long as possible."
What is your company's secret sauce?
We love data and efficiency. The questions we ask all day, every day are "how can we quantify that?" and "how can we make it more efficient and easier to understand?" With that laser focus, we are able to solve our customers pain points faster and simpler, entrenching us in their workflows. The more we quantify and drive better efficiency for our customers, the higher we make the bar for our competitors.
What inspired you to start/run this company?
I spent my career in the traditional medical EMR world. When I was faced with my own declining health and sought out integrative medicine, I knew there had a to be a better way. Through my 6-year journey to reaching my goals, the experience was disjointed, inefficient and fraught with friction. I know that solving these problems through technology will not only unlock market opportunity that has an uncapped potential, but improve the lives of millions of people.
What's the best entrepreneurial advice you've received?
"Just go do it. If you're passionate about it, and you believe in it, go try to make it work. If it doesn't work out, the journey alone will make you a better and more experienced person."
What's the worst entrepreneurial advice you've received?
"Use an S-corp, it makes taxes easier"
What sets your company culture apart?
Our culture is built on a philosophy of getting to the right answer, not trying to be proven right. We recognize that we don't know everything, and we aren't the experts. So we try figure out a way to make the best possible decisions with the information we have at the time through open and non-judgmental communication. Missteps will happen but learning from and understanding those missteps are what makes our product and business stronger.
