What is VentureLink?
SDVG’s VentureLink program connects venture capital firms with local talent and businesses to encourage investments within our region. We put 4 or 5 qualified companies in front of a VC for a one hour meeting. Core Innovation Capital will visit San Diego to look for investment opportunities on January 30, 2014.
Who is Core Innovation Capital?
Core Innovation Capital invests in innovative companies serving low and moderate income consumers in America. They are passionate about financial services that meaningfully improve the lives of the Emerging Middle Class, and focus on early growth-stage for-profit companies. Their portfolio companies include Ripple Labs, savvymoney, and L2C inc.
What is Core Innovation Capital looking for?
This VC is focused in the financial technology space. More specifically, Core is looking for consumer finance solutions targeting low and moderate income Americans. Additionally they are looking for companies in the Series A stage that have experienced at least some market traction. This is a double-bottom line venture capital fund – meaning that on top of seeking market-rate returns, they screen companies for their ability to improve lives.
Screening criteria that will be used to review candidate companies: (yes, please read this!)
- Getting ready to raise a Series A financing in the next 12 months
- Raising $2-8M in capital
- Financial services technology and services
- Technology is developed and ready for use
