Dispelling Venture Myths at the Intersection of Tech and Bio
Alice joined Upfront in 2018, with a focus on biology and deep tech. Prior to joining Upfront, Alice spent two years at the Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco, where she advised enterprise technology and biopharma clients. Alice also supported business development and operations at the Rare Genomics Institute, a nonprofit connecting families in the rare disease space. Alice received her PhD in biomedical engineering from a joint program between the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, and Peking University.
A Venture Capitalist View of the Future of Biotechnology
Mira Chaurushiya, Ph.D. joined 5AM Ventures in 2015 as an Associate and was promoted to Principal in 2018. Dr. Chaurushiya joined from Genentech where she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Physiological Chemistry studying mouse models of cancer and stem cells. Prior to Genentech, she completed her Ph.D. work at the Salk Institute, where she studied Herpes Simplex Virus infections and epigenetics. Her work has been published in Science and PNAS, among others.

Carol is a Senior Associate with ARCH Venture Partners. Carol focuses on identifying and evaluating new life science technologies and also provides operating assistance to early-stage portfolio companies. Carol is a stem cell biologist by training and combines her scientific expertise with experience on the business side of biotech. Prior to ARCH, Carol helped launch Magenta Therapeutics, a biotech company transforming the way bone marrow stem cell transplants are performed.

Prior to joining Greycroft, Brentt led business development at Operator Inc., a venture stage company in the conversational commerce space and worked on technology commercialization at Numenta Inc., an artificial intelligence research company. Brentt also worked at Detroit Venture Partners, where he led investment diligence and supported portfolio companies. Brentt started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse in Los Angeles, focusing on leveraged buyouts and debt financing transactions.
