Non-Dilutive Government Funding with Potential to Commercialize

In partnership with Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific

SBIR@Connect aims to drive innovation and bring non-dilutive funding to the innovation community by fostering partnerships between industry and government.
New annual BAA opportunity from the DoD’s SBIR/STTR Program!
“The DoD SBIR FY2022.4 Annual BAA is structured to allow participating DoD Components to advertise SBIR topics throughout the course of the fiscal year, outside of the three pre-determined BAA cycles. Each topic release will be accompanied by Component-specific proposal submission instructions, which will detail requirements such as proposal content, formatting, structure, budget/duration and proposal submission deadlines. Only proposals submitted in response to an active topic under this BAA will be evaluated.”
If you’re interested and want to look into this opportunity, check out the BAA here.
The topics are set to pre-release on July 12, 2022 and open for proposals on August 11, 2022.
What’s the SBIR Program?
The Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Program is a research and development program that gives seed funding to innovation addressing government needs.
The program assists the R&D needs of the government, and pushes small businesses and their partners to be innovative and commercialize their solutions.
Participating Agencies
SBIR@Connect was created in partnership with the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pac) under the Naval Informations Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) to support the SBIR/STTR program’s mission to drive innovation and collaboration between small businesses and government agencies. Although our partnership and focus is specific to the Navy, and we directly support NAVWAR, there are another ten agencies that participate in the SBIR program. To learn more about NAVWAR, or find an agency that fits your technology, please visit our Agency resources page.
Broad Agency Announcements
SBIR/STTR projects are based on a topic that expresses the government needs. Those topics are posted publicly through Broad Agency Announcements, BAAs, so that small businesses can apply and propose a solution.
There are usually three BAAs per fiscal year, with an occasional topic being released out of cycle. Each BAA has multiple SBIR and STTR topics from all agencies per cycle, so it’s important to continue to refer to the navysbir.com website for the latest information on deadlines.
The Navy’s 22.1/A cycle pre-released December 1st, 2021, and had a total of 90 SBIR topics, and 26 STTR topics. To take a look at the Navy topics, please visit here.
You can find all 211 DoD 22.1/A topics here.
The DoD FY-22.4 BAA topics will pre-release July 12, 2022. Stay tuned for more updates.
