HAI Solutions
HAI Solutions has developed a unique portfolio of medical devices addressing the growing plague of contamination within the operating room, emergency room and intensive care units. We are focused on launching both the MDD-Multiport Delivery Device and IVS-Intravenous Sterilizer. While these products are two separate devices, they are complimentary and tackle the arduous clinical workflows while also eliminating harmful Intravenous contamination.

Meet HAI Solutions
Based in Carlsbad, HAI Solutions has developed a unique portfolio of medical devices addressing the growing plague of contamination within the operating room, emergency room and intensive care units. The HAIS portfolio addresses a huge $2B Targeted vascular access market which continues to grow. Our two core devices, the MDD- Multiport Delivery Device and IVS-Intravenous Sterilizer are patent-protected with targeted commercialization in Q1/Q2 of 2022.

Why is your company the best option to solve the problem you're solving?
Our diverse team combines Anesthesiologists & CRNA's from top Academic Institutions, an Expert Technical/Engineering team, Strategic Executive Advisors and World-Renown Researchers who are ALL dedicated to advancing clinical vascular access care. Our core technology and patented products address systemic healthcare problems that continue to plague patients. We've developed engineered solutions to clinical challenges that will improve clinical care across the healthcare spectrum.
What nuggets of info make you interesting? Why do people care about what you're doing?
Born from the personal challenges of clinical care, we are rooted in the local clinical community. Contrary to most startups who focus on one linear product, we have built a portfolio of technology that can scale exponentially to meet medical needs in any healthcare segment including hospital and/or home-care. Our medical devices are innovative, elegant, efficient and effective. Our long road of product development has demonstrated our grit and grind to truly transform the healthcare industry.
What else do you want us to know?
We are a true garage startup. From inception till today, a significant amount of work like 3D-prototype printing, molding, product testing, design, and development is still completed from our home-based benchtop lab. We've leveraged this lean operating model and achieved many milestones consuming minimal capital the past 5 years. With a recent oversubscribed $1M seed financing we are stretching our legs and have accelerated product development focusing on commercialization. Our product and patient focus will continue to propel our startup.

Chris Voss-Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It.

What is your company's secret sauce?
We've been issued (2) US patents for two technology platforms that provide scalability in application. Our two separate but complementary medical devices, the MDD and the IVS, are engineered solutions that solve the complex clinical challenges by eliminating the error of human behavior. In many healthcare environments, workflows are arduous and there are many clinical challenges to ensure patient care. We've designed the MDD and IVS to function as safety nets in the most rigorous and challenging situations.
What inspired you to start/run this company?
In 2001, I learned firsthand about the many factors that contribute to catheter-related bloodstream infections. this experience came from bringing a medically-fragile foster child, who we later adopted, into our home. His dependence on strict, sterile handling of all iv medications and the care of his central venous line taught me every nuance of this dynamic, complex challenge.
As a nurse, and later a nurse anesthetist, I had the opportunity to apply my understanding of bloodstream infections and the role health care providers play in keeping patients from infections. Our son spent his first three years in the hospital because of constant central line infections, which were most likely caused by the health care workers’ handling of his IV medications and central venous catheter. Fast-forward ten years: While working as a nurse anesthetist, I began to connect the culture of anesthesia and patient safety.
As a parent of a child cared for by the anesthesia community, I can rest knowing that the risk of contamination of my son’s catheter and his bloodstream is substantially reduced. As future innovators continue to develop the technologies in patient implanted devices, the bio-med industry, and in anesthesia infusion and administration, our patented device has been designed to protect current patients within the practice of current methods, while also anticipating device application for the next generation, with more complex patients and more complex anesthesia infusion systems.
What's the best entrepreneurial advice you've received?
Persistence is the key to success! If you don't give up and if you consistently keep working towards your goal/idea you will eventually achieve your milestone.
What's the worst entrepreneurial advice you've received?
Fake it until you make it. LOL!
Perhaps in some industries that works, but in the medical device business, there is no faking it especially when your products have the ability to improve the lives of so many people. It is absolutely critical to us that we get it right 100% of the time.
What sets your company culture apart?
We have all been there and done that, and now each of us wants to do more. Our experienced team is extremely dedicated to meeting the clinical challenges set forth. Each of our team members contributes a unique skill set that drives product development and innovation. Our two mantras are "No Days Off" and "No Line on the Horizon".
