MIT Enterprise Forum

The San Diego chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum is managed locally by CONNECT. Click here to go the chapter website.

Real Companies. Real Issues. Real Feedback. The Forum hosts ten program annually – three case studies, three special programs, three industry theme programs, and a popular summer wine social.

Unique Case Study and Program Format: The Forum welcomes CEOs of  local, up and coming, technology companies to present an executive overview, including current challenges facing their business. Presenting companies are privately held and have either completed a round of funding or are generating revenue to date.

In addition to diving deep into business challenges that companies face, the Forum also develops thematic programs that explore common challenges to the industry, as well as special Forums with notable keynote speakers. Once a year in May, the Forum celebrates innovation with a Tech Fiesta at which 6-8 early stage companies participate in a friendly pitch competition.

Mentoring: An expert panel of advisors lends their advice and draws upon their experiences to provide feedback and potential solutions to these challenges based on their own professional experiences and expertise.

Education: These business challenges are those encountered by most aspiring entrepreneurs —including financial, marketing, application of technology, operations, management, growth, diversification, and more—everyone walks away enlightened!

Everyone is Welcome: All programs are presented in an open forum of approximately 200 guests; audience participation is encouraged. You do not need to be an alumnus of MIT to attend.
The MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego is one of 28 chapters of MIT Enterprise Forum, Inc.

Governance of the San Diego chapter is provided by a local Executive Committee and Operating Committee.  For members seeking opportunities to be more involved in the technology community, the San Diego Chapter welcomes volunteers to the Program Committee.  This committee serves as a portal to working with presenting companies, panelists, and other members through subcommittees such as Membership, Sponsorship, Pipeline, Education and Marketing.  The committee meets monthly.

The San Diego chapter is locally managed by CONNECT, which serves the regional innovation economy as a collaborative resource.

Mission Statement: The San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum’s mission is to educate entrepreneurs in an informative and entertaining environment in front of a diverse audience of San Diego business leaders and technologists, as well as capital and service providers.

The Forum’s mission reflects the ideals of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s founders, who promoted education for practical applications. This history – rich with tradition – has evolved to one rich with innovation.
